The Story Behind We:Align

We:Align started as an idea when I saw a tender on the Public Contracts Scotland website.  It was titled ‘Be Your Best Self’.  It was for women in agriculture and it intrigued me.

So, I decided to take a leap.

I created We:Align and submitted the lengthy paperwork required.  I was asked to go and present to the group who were reviewing the submissions which was daunting but also exciting.  I got excellent feedback about the programme and its potential however, I wasn’t successful in the tender.

Early on in the process, I had decided to use this a learning opportunity.  So with that in mind I knew I would be able to do something with the feedback.  I learned about how We:Align resonated with women and how it might support women.

With all this learning I decided to go ahead and launch it myself.  So, I set myself a date to start, a maximum number of participants and set about promoting it.  This was not an easy process for me.  It meant regularly posting on social media about We:Align, myself and why I believed it was a great programme.

I successfully ran my first cohort of We:Align in September 2019.  I loved every minute of it and I learned more about what resonated and what made the biggest impact.  The women who participated all came for slightly different reasons but at the core was the wish or need for something to be different. Each and everyone of them finished We:Align with their own version of change.

In We:Align we get really clear on who we are and what we want.  We move through the fear and the doubt that often holds us back, we learn to listen to and use our inner wisdom.  We take action towards these dreams. Together we grow and find alignment; alignment of who we are, what we want and what we do in life and work.  With this alignment we nurture our wellbeing, our creativity and our growth.

We:Align is personal.  It’s personal because this work in ongoing, it’s how We:Align even came about!  I continue to do this work myself and so I know how it feels and I know it is possible.  I also know that together we lift each other and we are capable of more than we thought possible.
